Even though I couldn’t afford to attend the entire Sci-Fi Expo, I had so much fun on Sunday just being at the event for a few hours. I’m always my happiest when I’m at a convention, so the little time I get to spend at each one means the world to me. Hopefully, someday I will be able to afford to go to the real Comic-Con out in San Diego (it’s on my bucket list). However, if I get as excited as I do to go to small cons in Texas, I’m sure I would have a nerdgasm at Comic-Con International, and possibly lose all control of my motor functions.
Anyway, getting back to the point — I had a great time yesterday in Irving! One of my favorite aspects of conventions is the cosplaying. If you’re not already familiar with this term, a cosplayer is someone who dresses up as one of his or her favorite characters, whether it be from a video game, a comic book, a movie, television show, etc. Some people even make their own costumes, and the result of their efforts can be simply astonishing. I’m not as gifted as some of the other fans I’ve seen, but I try to create my own costumes at home with items I already own. One of my goals for 2014 is to learn how to sew, so hopefully one day I, too, can make my own costumes. Until then, I’ll just keep admiring others’ creations.
Below, I’ve posted some pictures of my favorite costumes from the convention that I saw on Sunday. Enjoy!
